Neck fullness and increased neck skin laxity is a common issue for many men and women. This is caused by excess subcutaneous fat and loss of elasticity in the skin. Common factors that contribute to neck fullness and laxity include:

• Aging

 

We offer multiple options for the treatment of submental and neck fullness, including KYBELLA® injections and radiofrequency treatments. The best treatment option for each patient will be determined during consultation with the physician.

KYBELLA® Injections

 

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, which can result in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. 

 

Since everyone's chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. An individualized treatment plan including the number of sessions will be discussed with you. Your treatment plan is based on the amount and distribution of the submental fat as well as your personal treatment goals. 

 

 What to Expect 

 

The medication is administered via multiple small injections under your chin and the treatment process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Topical and/or local anesthesia is used prior to the procedure to reduce discomfort.  The exact number of injections will depend on the area treated and your desired profile. After KYBELLA® treatment, you will have swelling, bruising and numbness under your chin lasting roughly 7–14 days. Treatments are separated by approximately eight weeks.

Radiofrequency

 

Lumenis NuEra® Tight is a type of body contouring that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to target regions of skin laxity and excess fat. This RF technology removes fat cells and treats wrinkles, and cellulite. The device transmits heat to deeper layers of skin, tightening the skin and promoting collagen production.

 

NuEra® provides non-invasive skin tightening. It uses radiofrequency energy to heat and contract dermal collagen, in turn improving skin laxity on the face, neck and body. For many patients, NuEra® provides a safer and less painful way to tighten skin as compared to ultrasound-based treatments as it is unlikely to cause bruising, swelling, and pain.

 

What to Expect

NuEra® Tight is a quick treatment that has no downtime. The treatment lasts approximately 15 minutes for the neck area (longer when treating the body). The length of treatment is variable on the size of the area being treated.
