Eyelid Rejuvenation

The skin and soft tissue surrounding our eyes are highly sensitive to intrinsic and extrinsic aging factors.

Eyelid skin is the thinnest of the body. As such, the region around the eyes often shows the first, and most severe, signs of skin aging with wrinkles, hollowing, and eyelid hooding developing over time. There are numerous approaches to improving the skin’s health and appearance in this region, including laser, injectable, and surgical interventions.

Treatment

There are multiple factors that cause age-related changes around the eyes. As such, there is no single “one-size-fits-all” treatment that is right for everyone.  Instead, the best treatment plan focuses on the periorbital anatomy and soft tissue and skin characteristics of the individual. Our clinic offers multiple therapies for eyelid rejuvenation, including laser resurfacing, chemical peels, treatments for volume loss and skin laxity, and upper eyelid surgery, also known as upper blepharoplasty. Several of these techniques are often combined on the same treatment day in order to provide the most effective approach to periorbital aging.

What to Expect: Upper Blepharoplasty

For several days after the procedure, the eyelids and cheeks often become mildly swollen, and bruising on the upper and lower eyelids is common. Applying cool packs and elevating your head when sleeping will help to reduce swelling. It is common for the bruising and swelling to take up to 2–3 weeks to settle. You will return to the clinic one week after the procedure for the sutures to be removed.

Many patients report that after an upper blepharoplasty, they feel and look younger and more rested. This procedure can be combined with BOTOX® injections and collagen-building laser treatments to rejuvenate the periorbital area.
